Powder Metal

Our powder metal parts use a sintering process for the various parts. Metal powder is compacted by placing it into a metal die under pressure.  A second pressing operation can be performed prior to sintering to improve compaction and material properties. The compacted metal powder is then placed in a controlled atmosphere furnace at high temperatures where the metal powders coalesce and form a solid.

This process is useful in making parts that have irregular curves and surfaces and recesses that would be difficult to machine. Typical parts would be cams, ratchets, sprockets and pawls. In many cases secondary machining can be eliminated. Typical tolerances are 0.3% on dimensions.

We offer parts made from steel as well as brass and bronze powders.

With our experience, quality and off shore pricing, Global Casting Resources can meet all of your powder metal parts needs.
